Bill,

You might check out KDS monitors.  You can get them new at Staples for
usually a couple hundred dollars.  I always see them on sale there.  I'm
using a 19" KDS Avitron and it has a pretty sharp picture.  About a year ago
I got it as a warranty replacement for a Radius 17" (which they took over)
so I didn't have to pay latest cost.  I would normally have considered them
a lower/mid range in quality but I've been pretty happy with it.

Keep in mind you will probably want a video card with it unless you desire
640 X 480 or so and possibly not get thousands of colors.  Hope this helps.
