For this reason you may wish to hang on to that ADB keyboard: because the USB is on the PCI bus, and not the motherboard, you wouldn't be able to start from a USB keyboard. This could be either a minor inconvenience or a major PITA in certain circumstances. > > At the moment I think I need > 9.1(it seems appropriate). As long as you have the RAM, OS 9.1 will offer better USB support without additional futzing. Since you're not tied to an investment in legacy apps and peripherals, you may as well go forward 8^) > I'm not sure what brand my hard drive is > because I can't figure out how to remove it. :) I think its the one > that came packaged with the machine, so does anyone think I should get > FWB(what does that stand for anyway?) If you can boot from an Apple retail system install CD-ROM, there is a utility called 'Apple System Profiler' [ASP] on there that can tell you the exact make and model of the drive without removing it. Another utility, 'Drive Setup' [ADS, for Apple's Drive Setup], will tell you if you need another drive formatting utility. It is important to distinguish between OS _install_ disks sold by Apple to the general public, and the various system disks supplied with particular models of Apple computers. The former are intended, more or less, as universal installations and work with all qualifying computers; the latter are often customized and might not work with any other but the one it came with. FWB is the name of a software company <http://fwb.com/>. Two of their utilities frequently mentioned on this list are: 1) Hard Disk Toolkit [HDT] 2) Compact Disk Toolkit [CDT] > I feel really bad for > not being able to respond. Thank you all.
