Hi all I've just upgraded to OS 8.6, and I must say its visually much improved over 8.1. The smooth text looks fantastic! Better in fact than even Windows text looks, its more readable.
Anyway, as soon as I went from 8.5 where all was golden, to 8.6, the screen started having all this garbage and the graphics would trash when scrolling up and down a window, such as the system folder. Disabling the Twin Turbo acceleration cures the problem. I also tried removing the Apple Vision extension, that made no difference. What does Apple Vision do? And also, what does the A/Rose extension do? I was afraid to remove it because I didnt' know what it did. I also notice that web pages fill in noticeable quicker with acceleration off, although they do scroll slower than they used to. I can't tell the difference anymore between the text input now and when it was accelerated by hardware. So I'd say some things in the OS also got faster. Additionally, Unreal Tournament runs now, although the frame rate is like trying to play Quake fullscreen on an 060 Amiga with no speed patches (in otherwords, its pretty slow.) -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
