The Powerlogix L2 cache software 1.2 is the only current software that disables the motherboard L2 cache. It also is the only one which reports cpu temp. You need to use the Terminal to install it and I did have trouble getting it to install but once installed runs like a champ. yes this makes a big difference in how OSX runs. The software also lets you turn Spec processing on which Ryan says is no problem in OSX and gives you another speed bump. Spec processing should be turned off in OS 9.x in most cases. I would think the software option would be best for most people to turn off the L2 motherboard cache. As far as I can tell it works just as well as the hardware fix. You don't have to take your machine apart nor worry about frying the works! XLR8 has software for OSX which works but gives you no panel to check nor change settings it only works in the default modes listed in the info that comes with it. It no longer loads nor works with Jaguar the company is gone so no updates are expected. Ryan's L2 cache software is easy to install but not the best choice for Umax machines. It doesn't disable the motherboard cache and doesn't show temp. Ryan has not been able to figure out how to include those options. Will S -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
