That depends entirely on the individual applications. OMM, I've found CarbonLib versions 1.5 and 1.6 to be highly compatible and free of conflicts under OS 9.1. Anything between 1.2.5 and 1.5 is trouble ;-) I haven't found documentation for this, but the version of AppleScript [and it's underlying OSA implementation] seems to play a role in this, as well, since even if you don't do any scripting yourself, many applications rely on OSA.
