OK, another basic question as I set about refurbishing my kids'
Supermac (replacing hard drive). What OS do you all recommend using?

My bias is toward 8.6 or higher, since I understand that's required
to use HFS+ formatted disks.

I've got the machine loaded to 144 Meg with memory and accelerated
with a Sonnet Crescendo G3 accelerator. It's also got a USB card. For
now we use a dial-up modem for Internet access.

We have several newer Macs and a Windows PC; eventually, I'd expect
to network them and use probably connect our eMac to DSL or a cable
modem (if we ever get them). I anticipate this machine will be a
back-up machine with Office 98 and ClarisWorks 4 for the kids to use
for homework when a sibling has the kids' eMac tied up

Suggestions as to OS? 8.6, 9.0, 9.1, 9.2? I'm interested in
stability, reliability and speed.

What web browser version do you recommend to go with that OS?

Thanks,

Al Bonnyman
