Hi Al, If these are the applications you wish to run, then System 7.6.1 was definitely a high water mark for stability, reliability and speed for these boxen. Many of the so-called enhancements of OS 8.x can be had with a few tweaks to the extension set. OS 8.6 [and the de rigueur 'Font Manager Update' <http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=328>] offers the possibility of using USB and FireWire PCI cards. The best extensions for this are not installed with the standard update, but rather need to be 'harvested' from later OS updates. It also needs more RAM, but not as much as OS 9.x. OS 9.1 [and an update to AppleScript 1.8.3 <http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=8075&db=mac> ;-) ] will let your c600 look more like your eMac and offer better networking performance, but may not support older applications. It might also consume a fair amount of the CPU cycles and appear relatively sluggish. YMMVG on this. Both iCab <http://www.icab.de/> and Internet Exploder [sic] <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/ie/ie_default.asp> will work under any of these. HTH, paul -- Paul F.
