I am also having problems w/ my Toshiba XM 5701-TA 12X CD-ROM drive
that came w/ the C600. It won't read, and the tray keeps opening, also
hearing a hissing type noise w/ volume turned up.
In looking at ebay and such for a replacement, hopefully faster than
12X, some discuss how many pins on the ribbon. Can anyone tell me how
many pins I can get? Does 50 sound right? Also any suggestions as to
CDRW's, their speed and drivers?
I've had the computer open to just replace memory and add PCI card for
ethernet. Other than that, I'll need a lot of tutoring. I'd like to
replace the CD-ROM, with a new one, or a CDRW.
Any help my way, would be great.
As an aside, I remember a great guy who used to work for SuperMac named
"Ken". Is this the same as Kennedy?
