Have you retried the 240? I had some problems a while back that got to the point of only the fan starting. Part of the fix was to put my old processor back in. But after I could power up again, I reinstalled the new processor (in my case a G3/500) and it has been running fine ever since. I think there is some kind of reset that only the original processor can do, but once done, newer processors will work. Be sure to hold the CUDA button down for at least 3 seconds before trying to restart with the 240.
