Try zapping the PRAM (option-command-p-r) just after startup and hold it
down for a good long time, perhaps five to ten "bongs".

I had a similar situation with my NewerTech board. It worked for a couple of
weeks, then it died on me (same symptoms as you have - put  my old 604e
processor card in and it worked, put back the G4 card and it refused to
boot).

Give it a shot! Good luck.
