I too have had very good experience with these, as well as with the 9ES series, if you can still find them. Also, this vendor has been responsive when the need for an RMA has arisen. The need for good quality adapters is critical; so far I've had no problems with the ones supplied by OWC. > > OWC also has a "this weeks special" 36 Gb 68-to-50 pin adapted SCSI drive > (IBM UltraStar 73LZX 10,000 RPM) for $150, that should work as well. FWIW, that's now down to $135 for subscribers to their email news letter. Although you can't get the benefit of increased throughput with the adapters [you'd definitely saturate the PCI bus if you let even one of them run at full SCSI 160--don't ask], the reduced seek times of a 10k drive really make a difference in launch times. OMM I've had nothing but trouble with HFS formatted WD drives, even their top shelf Ultra 160 models; by all reports they seem to work better with FAT. Peace, paul -- Paul F.
