WD drives for SCSI seem to just suck running in a Mac. So do the IDE 
drives if they are connected to a PCI ATA card under 9.x or earlier. 
Same IDE drives run like a champ in OSX corrupt lowlevel drivers like 
all hell otherwise. IMHO
