I wonder if somebody can give me a brush up on the diff between 'Factory' and 'Master' Jumper Settings on an IDE drive. Specifically for Western Digital but that shouldn't make much difference.
Reason is, I picked up two hard drives, reformatted them, and connected to a single cable from my VST ATA/66. The other cable has both my main IDE drive, which is set to Master and the ATAPI Zip which is set to slave. Problem is, neither of these two other drives (one installed at a time) are even visible when set to 'Master' on their own cable. Even after being reformatted, they just won't show up. Nothing sees them. Switch it back to Factory, they work great and test good using any utility. I seem to recall that when a single drive was on its own ide cable on a ATA/66 card that the drive needed to be set to Master. Or is that only when the need for Master is when there is a Slave?
