Oh but it does. Although not as complex as SCSI drives, specific jumper
configurations can vary widely on all devices, even among models from the
same brand. The definitive source of information about the setup of a
particular drive is the manufacturer's web site. There is typically a
support section where installation and configuration documentation can be
downloaded, usually as PDF files with pictures and circles and arrows.
