-- Philip Aside from a router I also use "Doorstop". I'm on a cable modem and before I had a router Doorstop did a great job. What it logged, the port attacks from hackers, was startling in daily quantity alone. Most of the attacks were against Windows. But some were designated for Mac. The Doorstop software logs everything and you can get a companion app called "who's there" that enables you to track the source of an attack and anonymously send a warning email to the web administrator of the network where the attacker is based.
