Yes, Paul -
It has always been powered through the UPS.
(We have 200-amp service with a dedicated 20-amp circuit only for the
UPS and various peripherals that I don't plug into the UPS.)
After over three years of continuous service, the UPS internal battery
was replaced earlier this year.
APC has an excellent setup for recylcing - a mailer is included with the replacement.
As I mentioned numerous times before on this subject, voltage
stabilization is probably more beneficial overall then surge/spike
arrest and battery backup.
I am a firm believer in making sure to have this feature when money is
spent on a UPS.
