For your C500 use OS 9.1. I was the first on the list to try this way back and it works. After installing, I find it helps to run Diskwarrior, Nortons 6 or TechTool Pro (there are try out's) to clean up after the installation and check the fragmentation. If your disk is almost full and heavily fragmented, you should use Diskwarrior. Later I used the Sonnet G3 board to give my C500 a boost in performance. Get the extra ram. In that set up, your C500 is great running 9.1. Good luck.
