Hello s900ers!

I have an s900 and I have the following problems which I would like some
recommendations on how to fix.

Problem 1: PCI problems

Card not being recognized.

I installed 8.6 because I installed an Ethernet card (Asante) so I
wouldn't need to use the built-in Ethernet This card needs 8.6 or higher to
work . This card is in Slot F on my machine. I assume this is also slot 6 .
or we could also call it The-Slot-Nearest-The-Bottom-Of-The-Tower.
In slot 3 is the twin turbo card. In slot 4 is the pci-bridge card. In slot
5 , a old mach64 card.
slot 2 is empty and slot 1 has the small card with the
printer, modem,Ethernet hookups that come with the s900. I can't get the
machine to recognize the Asante card.

When I run Apple System Profiler, it only lists the twin turbo and the
pci-bridge card, in slot B1 and C1 respectively. Should I re-arrange these
cards? and if so, how ? Any recommendations, tips, comments, suggestions
would be GREATLY appreciated!

If I can't this to work, I will re-install OS 8.1 and in that case does
anyone have an E100 card they would like to sell?

Problem 2 : CD problems

I have , I believe, the stock CD that came with the s900; the machine was a
gift. ASP says it is a MASHITA CD-ROM CR-506, Revision no. 8505, Driver ver.
5.0.1
I have the CD-ROM Toolkit extension ver 2.3.2 enabled. the Apple drivers
are disabled.
The problem is it won't read any CD when I put it in the drive.
Do I need a different driver? a new CD? Once again, any
recommendations, tips, comments, suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

I also want to replace this drive with a RW/DVD drive and would like to
get your comments and recommendation on which brand to buy. Or if someone on
the list has a reliable, working one that they would be interested in
selling, let me know.
