[This one's perfect for Jeff Walther].

Having acquired a brand-new S900 faceplate and base (but alas no S900 side
panel--anyone got one to sell?), I am attempting to convert my J700 ACTX
case from horizontal to vertical for my daughter.

However, I've run into a problem with the plastic cage, the speaker, and the
audio sockets. They do not seem to fit any more: the speaker diameter now
seems too big and collides with the sockets, which also seem to be reversed.
Since my daughter is heavily into music, these things have to work.

Do I have to buy new parts? Do I have to solder? Or is there a simple
workaround?
