<another snip> I'd say! That setup looks fabulous! And DPaint still kicks ass! Hi guys In addition to what should be a prime example of proper email replying etiquette ;-) I just had to put in my two cents. Firstly, I don't know how anyone could ever get tired of Commodore's finest engineering acheivement overall, the Amiga 3000.. Go ahead, stick a PicassoIV card in there, some RAM, and run Fusion or Shapeshifter. Compare said emulated Mac to any REAL 68K Macintosh-its faster in every way! And at the time, it was cheaper too! You could get a Warp Engine and a graphics card to go with the Amiga 3000, and still it was cheaper and faster than a Quadra in 1994.. Heh. Anyway, those days are gone now, but its still fun to boot up the old hardware sometimes. I have yet to find the equal of Betascan scanner software on any platform :-( However amigas now have addons for PCI cards, as well as USB options for Zorro slot 'real' Amigas and PCI based addons, as well as for Amithlon, an advanced Amiga emulator which runs Amiga OS 3.9 on PC hardware-its a much better use of a fast PC than Windows ! e co Other links of interest are: www.ann.lu; www.amiga.org; www.amithlon.net Also at hand is the new Pegasos hardware from bPlan. I have one of the betatester boards, and I can say its awesome! In additon to the legacy ports for par, ser, and PC joystick it has onboard sound including SP/DIF, onboard firewire and onboard USB as well as an AGP2x slot and 3 PCI slots, with riser card option if you ever needed more. It is in the micro-ATX form factor, making it all the more amazing what they've packed into the board. Its CPU is in a daughtercard form factor like our SuperMacs, but its a smaller connector and board. Right now you can get a 600MHz G3 in there, but there are dual G4 solutions in the offing as well, coming soon. It runs Linux as well as MorphOS. MorphOS has a built in emulator which allows it to somewhat run Amiga software. I say 'somewhat' because I haven't been able to get everything working yet on the Amiga side:-/ There's some sad noises coming from Amiga, Inc. about MorphOS being able to run Amiga applications, but the OS truly isn't a clone and requires the user to add significant portions of the Amiga OS himself. http://www.thendic-france.com/TECH/US/home/home.htm is the URL for the Pegasos' distributor. The board costs approximately $500 US,in case you are interested. It might be a worthy addition to your hardware collection. Bolton -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
