Greetings Listers -

Apologies for the off-topic posting but DSL service has been tossed
around before
so.....I thought it wouldn't hurt just one more time.

Finally Verizon decided they are ready to offer DSL in our town.
Their deal, at $39.95/month with free modem provided is not too bad and
about the same
cost as what I am forking over to Earthlink and second phone line.
What I suspect will happen is after they reel in everybody the rate will
be jacked up.
But on the other hand, Earthlink has been raising their rates also...

They offer a 4-port router for around $80 (LinkSys) but I think I can do
better.
Also offered is a $150 device, which is a modem that allows the phone
jacks in the house
to be used as data ports.

Anyhoo, not to get overwinded, if you have any Verizon horror stories I
would appreciate it.
Luckily I have a friend down the street who has a Mac with DSL
connection - if I run into any hiccups.

Thanks and lots of stuffings,

Alan
S900 - maybe finally I can make use of that 10-baseT port !

Hi Alan,

I too, have been thinking of DSL from Verizon, but in the advertising I saw,
the low price was for the first 3 months and then it went up after that but
don't remember how much.

I had Comcast for a while and found that I really liked it but couldn't
afford it, so went back to AOL.

Hope all the listers have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Sybil
