Had Verizon for the first year they were in my town (North of Boston MA.).
Tech guy came in to set up while wife was home I was running latest versions
of Netscape and Explorer with my previous ISP (Mindspring). He immediately
deleted Explorer and installed a older version of Netscape which deleted all
of my email and my address book!Told my wife we HAD to run older version of
Netscape !!!  I was not too happy when I got home.
Their system was down at least once a month. VERY annoying seemed to go down
at my most crucial times. I run fantasy sports leagues online and everything
is done via email or on websites.
Anyway I live in a 2 family and was moving from 1st floor to 2nd floor.
Called Verizon 1 month BEFORE move to make sure that, since I was in same
house, with essentially the same phone wiring, all I would have to do is
move modem upstairs and filter all phone outlets as I had done downstairs.
Tech support assured me that was all I needed to do...simple.
Well moving day came and as you can guess THE MODEM DIDN'T WORK!
I called Verizon to get a fix. They told me nothing they could do as someone
should have come to the house to move my equipment and test lines and then
they could do the switch at their end (flip a switch I guess..very hard)!
I explained that I called 1 month earlier and was assured I would have no
problem and they explained I got bad information! I was pissed! Ego aside I
asked when I could get someone to fix the problem as I was in DIRE need of
my email they claimed nobody would be out for 30 DAYS...30 FREAKING DAYS.
THIS WAS THE MIDDLE OF FOOTBALL SEASON! My leagues were in full swing. I
asked to talk to a manager..30 minutes on hold I got one(supposedly) No
help...asked for their boss I waited for 3 HOURS ON HOLD (thank God for
speaker phones) Til the woman picked up ..told her my plight and she says 30
DAYS  Thank you for being a Verizon customer GOOD BYE...AND SHE HUNG UP !!
HELLO CABLE COMPANY....
ATT BROADBAND was at my house in 10 days.
In the meantime I had to use AOHELL...I could kill someone at Verizon just
for that alone!
Anyway ATT BROADBAND has been exellent. I have never looked back and will
forever warn folks about VERIZON... Good luck with their Mac PPPoE client
also THEY DON'T SUPPORT IT ! since its Mac and not Winblows  its third party
GOOD LUCK The company has no Phone # and if your down and  lucky enough to
use someone else's computer to email tech support THEY WILL NOT ANSWER !
