Hi Jess

Doorstop has a companion program that I use called Who's There?
Firewall Advisor. This gives the geographic location of the probing
computer, The name of the network and the administrator of the
network and usually the offending computer's address. Many of the
probes are out of Asia and eastern Europe sprinkled with a fair
amount of stateside locations. The network probes that you are
talking about are there as well as authenticating probes from my IP
every time I send an email. Just about every port gets attacked and
the majority of attempts are looking for a careless/unaware Windows
user. The probes are designated by type (Trojan horses, etc.), port
attacked and danger/risk level. Quite a program! It's pretty active
out there and anyone who is on an open network should protect
themselves even if a Mac is much safer than other platforms. There
are attempts on our platform and identity theft is a rising industry.
