No. It seems to be pretty solid in straight forward use with most drives. It just seems to get wonky when you install certain other PCI cards, and I'm guessing since I don't have the patience to test it thoroughly, that it's the fact that the Sonnet G4/800 plays with Open Firmware which is causing the problem I experience there. DVDR drives were either very new or non-existent when the firmware for the VST was written, so I imagine that's why you're having trouble, though I could be wrong. The fact that the card seems to work with CDRW drives for some folks would have made me expect it to work fine with DVDR if not for your experience. Have you tried hte machine with just the VST card and a video card installed? Your problem could also be some coexistence problem with other PCI cards. In the end it boils down to never being sure an ATAPI device will work with a given ATA card unless someone has already tried it out.
