It is indeed and the only way to get analogue sound in without a
sound card (an AV card would have been a plus for the Umax). I connect
various sources to the mic/line in with a wondrous array of wires and
connectors but possibly the best is from the headphone jack of my old
Sony XO-D301 hifi amp recording into Deck 2.6.1 and SoundEdit 16 via a
3mm to 3mm jackplug lead whilst monitoring with headphones connected to
the front or rear sound out.
Using the amp headphone socket greatly simplifies my old/new
connection problems raised by my three reel to reel decks and keyboard
with 5 pin din/2 phono/6mm jack/3mm jack input and output and also lets
me use the amp's intergral graphic eq to adjust the sound in.
Deck and SoundEdit are fairly old now but still great for multi
track recording and mixing down to two track stereo aiff.
