Hi everyone on the list, Just a little problem - what is 'speculative access'? and how to you turn it on and off.
The story goes like this - I have a mac G3 266DT which seems twice as fast as my C500 with G3 320 PowerJolt card. I checked both the machines with the GUAGE PRO 1.1. The C500 is reading 31 MB/sec (40mhz bus) or less for memory and the G3 266DT is reading 63 MB/sec memory (66mhz bus). I noticed that the G3 266DT has 'speculative access' switched on and the C500 has it switched off. The C500 has the PowerJolt control panel, but doesn't mention any speculative access. Do the figures above seem OK to the learned people on this list or am I missing something? regards, Ian B (UK) C500, G3 P-Jolt320, 112mbRAM, OS8.6, 2GbHD, 2 x 9GbExtHD, Zip250SCSI, Astra610S, StyleWriter2500, PACE56KModem - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
