Actually, "the masses" are smart enough to realize that a faster machine for
less money, running Windows, is the better buy.

Look, the real Mac Loonies can rave all they want about This Year's Case and
This Year's Color, but the fact remains that the current Macs are simply -
as always - overpriced and underpowered.

That's why I bought a bare bones S900 (case, power, motherboard and CPU)on
eBay and built it up myself. It's currently running 10.2.3 on 688 megs
ram, a 450mhz G4 CPU, various IDE and SCSI hard drives and an IDE CD/RW.
All for around $750. Plus, that $750 was spread out over about 18 months!
No single big hit to the credit card. That's another (often overlooked)
advantage to "build it yourself"!

I can upgrade it even further with a better video card, faster CPU, or add
USB and/or firewire.

I'll never buy a new Mac. If I were in the market now, I'd buy a used G3
or G4 tower and upgrade it.

Just my opinion. YMMV, and all that.

Dan
