What really needs to happen is that there needs to be a true computing
standard that all computer users could understand. Gigaflops per second
would be a good start. AMD would certainly support such a standard
since they have the same problem with Intel as Mac does. Their
processor (at least whem P4 first came out) was truly faster in terms of
real world operations.

I use Mac at home but I use both PC and Macs at work. I find the PC
machines okay, they are kind of like your everyday car. I love my Macs
because they are like sports cars. The OS is sleek and fast. Jaguar is
nearly crash proof. Lastly, I have lost files in WinDos machines. The
computer knows its there (HD is fuller), it just can't find it.

For true processing power and $ value, the eMacs are probably as good as
it gets. They are cheap, fast, and like Boxsters, they are the entry
level mac. They are also idiot proof. I have students who complain
that they couldn't print because their printer disappeared from their
desktop and they have to bring in their disks to my external floppy and
have my Mac print it. Apple needs to tie their machines in with sexy -
just like Porsche. They need to push for a true comparison standard and
get the industry to back it. If I want fast, reliable, productivity, I
use my G4 in either my tower at work or my UMAX at home. If I want
clock speed, I change the gearing in that thing on the wall.
