Borrow an external SCSI CD writer or reader and do a
Command/Opt/Shift/Del at bootup to force the external drive as a startup.
Your internal CD drive is most likely a Matshita that is not "apple" compatible.
Yes, a Umax CD would solve the problem as well, but an external device
may still come in handy when you want to install a new system.
