In the interest of taking care of the bootability issue without too much
tinkering, I would like to suggest you find someone who can loan you an
external SCSI CD drive of some sort (burner or reader) for booting from
another CD besides the Jaguar installer.
I don't know why but the Yamaha must not be an "apple" compatible unit.
Once you manage to boot from the external device, the internal one can
be used for the install CD.
(That's how I got around loading 9.1 - boot from external with a startup
disc, then loaded the install CD on the internal CD drive for the installation.)
Actually, the external device can be a hard drive as long as it is
bootable and there is a system folder.

There may be headaches trying to boot from the install CD itself, thus
my suggestion to get the machine booted from another external source.
You could also try to boot from one HD and then load the CD on your
internal Yamaha for the installation in a separate volume (on the first
8 mb in some cases ?)

Others should be able to refine/refute/improve my suggestion.
