What is CUDA reset? >Keith Sorry about that. The "CUDA switch" for the CUDA chip is a mechanism on the motherboard that drains residual charge when the power plug and PRAM battery are removed, similar to shorting the CMOS jumper on a PC-- clears the mind. Often useful, even essential, after adding & removing hardware (PCI & CPU cards, RAM). The CUDA switch in an S900 is located on the MB just to the left of PCI slot#6. It's silver, about a half cm on each side and has a small red? button extending from the top. The "CUDA reset" procedure is to unplug the power, remove battery, press and hold this button for 10-30 seconds. Replace battery & cord, then boot. I use it routinely after seating CPU cards (per XLR8's instructions) and RAM (per experience & Kennedy's comments a while back about bringing apparently dead RAM slots back to life). --Bruce Hi Bruce, I know about the CUDA switch but don't know how to open my J700 case. I haven't had the courage to even try. My grandson dit put in two memory upgrades and don't know if he did that. He is usually very thorough in his work. Guess I will just have to bite the bullet and try. Thanks, Sybil -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
