This message is for Robyn and anybody else who was interested in the dvd/cd/rom 32x drive that owc had on sale.
I received it this morning. Installation had a few glitches in that it didn't like being on the same cable as my atapi zip drive, so it wouldn't even show up. But after swapping things around, it works fine. I can now play music cd's without missing a beat and use I-tunes with all its graphic capabilities as well. Really cool Man! As for the dvd side of the drive, well I don't have a standard dvd's around here but I don't expect it to work w/o a decoder anyhow, or as I forgot to mention last time, a vid card with dvd capability. All in all, the 32x cd rom, along with anticipation of future playing of dvd's, was a good buy. >> OWC is selling an Apple 5x DVD/32x CD drive for the Powermac G3/4 machines. >> Does anyone know if these would work in my S900 with a Sonnet Tempo ATA/66 >> and >> 10.2.3? >> >> Thanks, >> Robyn > > Hi Robyn, > > I don't know but I'll find out soon. As for my DVD/RAM drive in my 'equally new' firewire enclosure, RATS! Foiled Again! It would appear as though my DVD/RAM drive is not compatible with this enclosure. So once again, I am unable to use this drive. This really stinks! So now I will probably have to sell the enclosure to a friend, find something else to put in it, or send it back. Either way, I have to buy another one or go back to my original dreary endeavor. Is anybody else besides me getting sick of this? :) Dave s900 -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
