Pay no attention to my former post. I decided to try downloading 5 or 6 of the most likely candidates to be an update for the Asante NIC card. One of them did indeed work. We are now able to connect the c600 via the DSL router.
Seemed strange... in that a simple PCI Ethernet card would need a driver. We never used the NetDoubler software that came with the original card.
