Norton has seen many updates over the years so it is important that the
version you are using is right for the OS you are running. I no longer
install Norton on my main drive as it can cause problems. Disk light
slows your machine down when turned on and no one really needs it. The
Data recovery/backup software causes endless problems sad but true.
Speed disk is a very good app to have an use and Disk Doctor is still
of use but Disk Warrior is much better these days IMHO an many other
peoples. The thing to do to be able to run the upgraded version. If you
have a CD burner or if a friend does you could burn a new copy of the
updated version. You could partition your hard drive and keep a small
system on there with Norton an boot into for running Norton. A Zip disk
or another removeable disk is also good for this. I have an old Syquest
ezflyer which I use for this.

Virex is the better product regardless of price in my opinion. In many
years of Mac use I've only seen two virus's on a Mac. One was from a
floppy disk used on a college class machine by a friend and the other
was in a email attachment. It was an .exe file which is a giveaway as
something like 99% of PC virus's are .exe files and they don't effect
Mac's. OSX which you aren't using is likely to see more virus in the
future but hasn't so far ;-) later Will S
