...and I just got caught up to it tonight.

I don't have any insight into this, but I promise to bring it up if I ever
run into the NICE lead engineer again.  I pass him on the freeway (or vice
versa) fairly often, but face to face encounters are infrequent.

I do have relevant experience with PC versions of Adaptec cards however --
the 2940U2W -- and have found that they won't interfere with anything even
if they don't work.  They simply don't work.  Now, how I was able to
successfully flash two 2940UW's with the Mac firmware and have them work
perfectly is something I still can't really account for.
