Hello to everyone,

This is my first post to the SuperMac list.

I recently brought home an 200mhz S900 UMax SuperMac from work
which was no longer being used. The computer has had booting
problems from the beginning and have gotten worse. When I got it
home it would boot for me but would freeze. There were also times
it would boot to the smiley Mac then hang. Now it only boots to a
grey screen or leaves me with a black screen.

What I have tried: Zapped the pram, desktop rebuild, ran an
installed Norton Utilities Disk Doctor, pressed cuda reset,
reseated some of the internal hardware, replaced the PRAM battery,
tried booting from an OS 9.1 system CD by holding C button at
startup but did nothing.

My sister has Norton's Utilities on CD I want to borrow and try to
boot from but have my doubts.

Something I am wondering about. This computer did not have its
original cord. I had to go through a drawer full of cords at work
and guess as to which was the correct cord? The computer has
worked with this cord but wonder if that could create my problem.
If so have no idea were to get correct cord.

Help appreciated,
