Not necessarily ... it depends on what you're doing. If you're just doing basic cut editing, you would not really use any more space because the clips you're creating are simply pointers to the media that is already on the drive. In fact, in iMovie, when you take a file into the editor and trim it down, the unused portion of the file gets put into iMovie's trash can. When you empty the trash, that portion of the file gets deleted and opens up that space on the hard drive. However, if you start creating transitions or putting on effects that need to be rendered, you'll need extra drive space to store the rendered files. How much depends on the length of the transitions/processed clips. I would say for basic editing w/some transitions and effects, a ratio of 2:1 should be more than sufficient - ie for 1hr of DV video using 12GB, have about 20-24 GB of drive space available. -- Gregg -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
