------ Phillip - I'm in a similar situation, with super-8 film that has yet to transition to video along with a library of analog 8 tapes. >From what I've gathered thus far for our machines, firewire capability would be desirable and a more recent model of a Digital 8 or DV camcorder that has a pass through capability and firewire. Many folks already have such camcorders. The camcorder would be handy even if you have a more modern Apple machine with firewire. This would allow you to patch in your older video sources through the camcorder and then transfer to a HD so it can be edited, etc. and recorded back to whatever you choose, more then likely DVD. There are other components involved in this, such as a DVD recorder. And software for video editing, etc. such as Final Cut or a cheaper alternative. Minimal processor, video, drive specs to comfortably handle this task on a supermac could be discussed by others. I am not sure if it is possible to dump a 'raw' capture file straight onto DVD without involving an editing software. This topic appeared last year and there were many helpful posts, one of which is what I mention above on the video camera. Alan -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
