For sure the SIIG card will work in your S900. I have one, they work great.
If you bought the 40GB drive new, the jumpers should already be set properly
(the default configuration is 'master').

Are you having any trouble? Or have you just not tried it yet? By the tone of
your questions it seems that you've tried and can't get it working.
