------ Howdy, Nancy - DSL is going well thus far. Because I migrated to Netscape 7.02 during the switch to DSL I am not sure how much faster it is but there definitely is a noticeable difference. When I go to a heavily animated site with lots of ads it really bogs down during the initial loading of the page. The speed test indicates I am getting upwards of 702, which I am told is excellent. However, some sites are kinda slow maybe due to their server. Nice to be able to view the live CBS cam from Bagdhad and download PDF files in a blink. Friend sent me a MP3 file from France which came through in less then a minute. One annoying thing with the current DSL setup is when the computer goes to sleep and is reawakened, the connection is lost although the Verizon interface shows that it's opened. Using a router will probably eliminate this inconvenience. I have to quite both Verizon and Netscape and relaunch them in the same order to restore the connection. As for router/wireless, I may go the hardwire route with a simple 4-port router and hold off on wireless until I have a modern Apple machine. At the moment there is a need for some communications cables to be run in the house, which includes phone wires, so it's an opportunity to combine the jobs. The local Best Buy is selling a good selection of LinkSys routers, including the WET-11 wireless ethernet bridge, all with rebates. I'm a little confused over the constant warning messages I'm getting about a site not being encrypted - trying to understand the different security features with netscape 7.02 to see if I'm overlooking something.
