Neil,

S900 logic boards are available on Ebay. I just looked and there are 8 
listings for either logic boards (starting at $9.99) or complete 
machines (starting at $100). Also, you can order NEW service parts from 
Newsell in Germany (see www.newsell.de). A logic board costs 37 Euros 
(plus shipping and possible duty). Let me know if you want to order 
something from Newsell, I can act as intermediary.

I wouldn't go the Apple PPC 9600 route. That's way too complicated.
