Thanks for the info on how to open the case. I am not sure that I have the
strength to accomplish this-will try.

Unscrew the big thumbscrew on the back of the case, push in those two tabs
on the back edges of the top of the case (with your chest against the
front of the case) and slide the top away from you.
You'll probably need a helper (I did, anyway), because the case is probably
tight and it's a bear to get it started. We had to stick a real thin bladed
knife under the curved part of the top of the face plate, above the speaker
holes, then used a butter knife in the "seams" on either side of that
curved part, to get it started sliding. Once you clear that curved part,
the top will slide right off.
A neighbor just gave me this J700. This thing is awesome, but it's only
got 24 MB of RAM in it, so I'm shopping for RAM. (Suggestions are welcome,
folks! There's a guy on ebay selling 256 MB of 168-pin DIMM's for $49. It
sounds cheap to me. Should I grab that or keep looking?)
