It's not likely that your C600 has 8 mb or ram rather then 16mb on the motherboard. What is likely is Apple system profiler or other software is reporting the wrong answer! <snip>

I had this exact problem with my C600LT/240. Ever since day 1 that
I had bought the c600 it always showed the 16mb on the motherboard.
But then I did something... not sure what, since I don't know when it started, then one day I was looking at something else in Apple System Profiler & noticed it was saying 8mb on Motherboard...
I hardly use the c600 anymore, & I still have not taken the time to figure out that problem/cause.
So, Bervin, I would try starting up with extensions off or something
& see if it still says 8mb.
Didn't someone way back even say BAD ram could cause that symptom?
