You don't seem to understand about the bus speed - the IBM 970 (G5 chip) runs the front side bus at 1/2 the processor clock speed - so a 1.6ghz machine has a 800mhz bus by definition. If you look, you will also see that the 1.8ghz model has a 900mhz bus speed. This is not some cheat, it is the way the chip architecture works.
I rather doubt that there will be many people buying the low-end machine who will miss PCI-X. How many boards are there out there for that standard?? People looking for that kind of functionality don't buy the low-end anything.
It is too late in the evening to debate all the features of the G5s. If you're that disappointed, buy your PCs and go have fun.

The $2000 version doesn't come with the following features offering on the much more expensive models:
No PCI - X this means the claims of high bandwidth are not so on the advertised model
Supports up to 4 gigs of ram - once again not the same as the advertised page
The front side bus is dropped from 1ghz to only 800 mhz not as advertised
And the ram speed is lower than the $3000 model
What this amounts to is about only 1/2 or maybe 2/3 of the speed they claim
And if you base a $2000 pc vs the new $2000 mac
I think you will find that the new mac is not as much of a speed king as
they claim
But the 64-bit bus is cool though really cool
To bad the $2000 model can't really take advantage of it because the motherboard in the cheaper model is different and only allows up to 4 gigs of ram so basically a 64-bit architecture is nearly useless when the chipset governing the computer doesn't allow for the full potential
Seems as though mac is pulling the same old tricks as it did with the release of the G4 and more importantly G3 processors
