Howie,

I work with two S900's and suggest you try booting from the OS system disk if you have
one. That could eliminate a problem with the video card if you get video and the happy
mac. Run disk first aid first than Norton Disk Doctor.. Sounds to me like it can't find
a system folder. It is possible the finder became corrupt and the system folder is no
longer blessed. Have seen that happen.. Don't believe a dead pram battery is the
problem.
