I have an Powermac 8600 that had huge coruption issues when I put my G3 card
in it and it turned out to be because of the ram. If you have older slower
chips (8 & 16meg especially) they are to slow for the processor. The other
thing a good Mac tech friend told me was to not interleve the ram on a g3
upgrade as it would corrupt everything. I finally got 2 new 128meg chips and
installed them WITHOUT interleveing. Believe it or not my system was faster
and more stable. I wound up having to re format my hard drive and
re-installed everything but it was because the ram issues had corrupted my
drive so bad. Since then it totally solved my video problems and unexplained
crashes.
