A dual purpose FW/USB card will normally only work in the top two slots. I had an Orange Micro FW/USB. Their "tech department" kept coming up with excuses (er, suggestions) such as "upgrade your system software to ..." and "your processor speed is too slow". Even after I did these things (including upgrading to a NewerTech G4/400, the card didn't work properly. As mentioned in an earlier post to David Muller, I replaced my Orange Micro with a VST Technology FW/USB card and it has work like a charm overall.
