I can't for the life of me record an alert sound underalerts. Something that >I could do before, without anyproblems. When I try to record a sound and >play it backI get no sound at all.
Can somebody give me any ideas? I think it must be something that haven't
configured properly.

Hi Ruzya;
I just installed the latest version Of TextEdit and to get the full use of the text to speech features I had to turn on the following:
(note: They were all installed by me when I installed OS9.1 but I had never used text to speech before)
****
Control Panel:
Speech

Extensions:
Sound Manager
SoundSpace2Lib
SoundSprocketLib
SpeakableItems
Speech Manager
Speech Recognition
********

With all this installed and turned ON, I found many new feature including options for putting in custom alert sounds and many others I had heard of but had no clue about.

The first step is to install the Speech CP from the OS9.1 disc.

All options are under the Speech Control Panel.

Have a good one,

ernie
