What did those of us that bought these NEW actually think we were getting? Let's be real here... the 9600 at the time was upwards of $2000 more. But looking back, maybe it was a case of getting what you pay for.

Would you like some cheese to go with that whine? Like you *always* "get what you pay for" when you buy a new Mac from Apple! I wouldn't buy a new *anything* from Apple - always overpriced and underpowered, from the G5s down to the iPods.


My S900 has been rock solid since I bought it new on eBay for $250 about 3 years ago. It has 9.1, 9.2.2 and OS X 10.2.6 installed. It has a 450 mhz G4, 700 megs RAM, IDE and SCSI hard drives and an IDE CD/RW. It has an ATI Radeon 7000 video card.

If yours was flaky you clearly had a bad one - perhaps a marginal power supply or something. Mine works fine.
