I have a J700 with a XLR8 G3 ZIF upgrade installed. The machine has worked fine on OS 9 for quite a while. Recently it has developed problems booting, with a periodic bomb and error message. I have monkeyed around with the harddisks (2 internal and one external), eventually removing the newer Seagate Barracuda. The harddisks will only intermittently appear on the desktop, sometimes allowing limited usage, sometimes no response to any clicks or keyboard inputs. Since it seems to be very random and the common item seems to be harddisk access, I am assuming it is a bus problem.
I have pulled the plug on this machine, but any ideas would be appreciated, or anyone interested in the box/parts please email me. Thanks for the years of valuable information from this list.
